Zach Edey Single-Handedly Brought Purdue To Its First Final Four Since 1980, Called Out Rick Barnes And Every Other Coach For Overlooking Him

This is far from the first time an athlete has done this. But, Edey might have a point here. The dude was ranked as the 75th center in America as a recruit. He was a 3-star. Of course he was overlooked by basically every coach and at the same time he's perfect for Purdue. Purdue is built on having gigantic human beings play center for them. Doesn't matter if it was Swanigan, Haas, Haarms, Williams, Edey, Hammons, etc. Matt Painter fully believes in the if you're a giant, I'll make you successful.

Here's the other thing. Edey has the right to do this. It's simple in my mind - if you win, you can say whatever the fuck you want. You want to call out coaches for overlooking you, go ahead. You just put up a 40/16 game, single-handedly brought Purdue to the Final Four for the first time since 1980 and about to win your second NPOY. Edey earned the right to talk shit, no matter what Tennessee fans think about refs. They seem to forget that they are also 261st in the country in fouling, might have something to do with it too.

I'm guilty of it, we're all guilty of it, we hate success. We love to mock guys like Edey even though they are winning a bunch of shit from individual awards to now a Final Four. We all do it, we all find something to pick at and say that's the only reason why they are good. Edey is tall and Edey gets fouled a lot. That's why he's good. No, he actually is just good. There, I said it. He's not going to be a star in the NBA, but he's mocked as a first rounder. That's not bad! I don't know when it all switched that we have to correlate guys being great college players to NBA Draft and what not, but we can say dudes are just awesome in college.

So, yeah, go ahead and talk your shit, ride a train around campus with the trophy:

You don't think a Final Four is a big deal? Why is Robbie Hummel moved to tears?
